7 Halloween events to enjoy near Canyon Falls
With our frightfully convenient location in Flower Mound, Argyle and Northlake, Canyon Falls is close to fun events and attractions all year ‘round. For the festive Halloween season, we’ve rounded up 7 of our favorite local events for kids, grownups and even the dogs.
Halloween at the Heard, Oct. 12
This fun family event features trick-or-treating along the eerie Dinosaurs Live! life-size animatronic trail, haunted by a 46-foot T-Rex and 14 new life-size dinosaurs along a half-mile trail. An outdoor fossil dig is new this year. Families will enjoy a creepy evening of fun activities, including a presentation of the movie “Encanto” on the Heard’s outdoor amphitheater stage. If you can’t come to this extra-spooky evening, Dinosaurs Live! continues through February.
Celebrate Roanoke, Oct. 12
Not exactly a Halloween event, Celebrate Roanoke is definitely a treat. Now in its 27th year, this street festival in historic downtown Roanoke has seven blocks of entertainment, including a live rodeo, children’s activities, Western entertainment and more. There’ll be live music on multiple stages, highlighted by Grammy Award nominee Pat Green on the main stage at City Hall. The evening will end with a dazzling western-inspired Drone Light Show. Stay for dinner in Roanoke, the Unique Dining Capital of Texas, with more than 40 restaurants downtown.
Woof-O-Ween, Oct. 23
Dress your pup in their favorite Halloween costume for Flower Mound’s annual Woof-O-Ween. Awards will be given for most creative, scariest, best homemade, funniest, and best pet/owner look-a-like costumes. Treats, photos and music add to the festivities at the Hound Mound Dog Park. No registration is required.
Hilltop Halloween & Fall Fest, Oct. 26
The new Hilltop Truck Park near Canyon Falls presents its annual Halloween & Fall Fest on Sat., Oct. 26, from 4-10 p.m. More details to come, but the organizers promise “a huge event with a costume contest and plenty of fun for the whole family,” complete with a Pumpkin Patch and Bounce House. About four miles from the Canyon Falls Club, Hilltop Truck Park is a fun family-owned destination with 10 resident food trucks, plus a full cocktail bar and coffee shop. Regular events include a Farmer and Artisan Market.
Glowing Pumpkin Plunge, Oct. 26
With its floating pumpkin patch, this glow-in-the-dark event is a Flower Mound tradition for the entire family. The Community Activity Center’s indoor pool will be decorated with black lights for this spooktacular event, which also has fun activities outside. Pre-registration is required as spots are limited.
Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival, Oct. 25-27
Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival captures Denton’s artistic spirit, paying homage to fall’s treasures such as cooler weather, the harvest, Dia de los Muertos and all things Halloween. This street festival has song and dance, good food and drink, Denton’s original Halloween Cabaret “Cirque du Horror,” and a lantern-lit twilight parade.
Grapevine Halloween, through October 31
Grapevine is best-known as the Christmas Capital of Texas, and they also scare up a good Halloween season. Events include Trick or Treat Cartoons & Crafts on Saturday mornings in October at the historic Palace Theater. Tricks & Treats at Sea Life Grapevine Aquarium showcases Serafina the Sea Witch and her “scary-not scary” sea creatures. On Oct. 26, Bewitched by the Barn features spooky old tales with popcorn and cider at historic Nash Farm. Also Oct. 26, the Hallowine Trail is a sipping tour of multiple wine tasting rooms in and around historic downtown Grapevine. The Trick ‘R Treat train runs Oct. 27 at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, delighting kids with treats, a Halloween storybook reading and a fun interactive game.
