Holiday events to enjoy near Canyon Falls in Flower Mound, Northlake, Argyle and other North Texas cities
From festive tree lighting ceremonies to twinkling trails of lights, here’s a list of our favorite holiday highlights in Flower Mound, Northlake, Argyle and other North Texas cities near Canyon Falls.
Grapevine – The Christmas Capital of Texas
As the Christmas Capital of Texas, nearby Grapevine has 1,400 holiday events over 40 days, including Lone Star Christmas at the Gaylord Texan, and the North Pole Express aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. There’s also Christmas at the Palace Theater, Christmas Wine Trains, Grapevine Christmas Village and much more, amid millions of twinkling lights and larger-than-life decorations. The fun starts in early November and continues through the New Year, so you’ll have plenty of chances to celebrate. It’s like visiting the North Pole, except it’s just about 16 miles from Canyon Falls.
Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway
A true gift to everyone who loves holiday magic, the Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway is an incredible drive-through light show, with a two-mile course featuring more than a million twinkling lights – so many that it takes approximately 45 minutes to see everything. It opens Nov. 13 and continues through Jan. 7. The admission price is good for an entire carload, and pets are welcome. On weekends, from Friday through Sunday, you can visit with Santa after going through the Gift of Lights. The Jolly Old Elf will have his sleigh parked at the nearby Marriott Hotel on Championship Parkway.
Denton’s Holiday Lighting Festival & Wassail Weekend
Denton’s Holiday Lighting Festival takes place Sat., Dec. 7 and features live music, food, arts and crafts, and thousands of twinkling lights adorning the trees around the historic Courthouse on the Square. A family-friendly tradition since 1988, this event has horse-drawn carriage rides, visits with Santa, musical and dance performances, and much more. It also has an annual Toy Drive in partnership with Elves Shelves, to provide Christmas gifts for local children. Attendees can drop off toy donations or donate virtual toys online.
Hometown Holiday in Roanoke
Now in its 31st year, Roanoke’s Hometown Holiday attracts more than 15,000 visitors to this quaint small town just a few miles from Canyon Falls. Taking place on Sat., Dec. 7, this joyous annual event features a parade, tree lighting ceremony, carriage rides, Santa’s Workshop, and gingerbread house building contest. There’ll also be a kid’s zone, a S’mores station, Letters to Santa, a shopping bazaar and much more.
Flower Mound’s Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony
Flower Mound’s 34th annual Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for Sat., Dec. 7, with a full day of holiday merrymaking that begins with the Reindeer Run 5K & Grinch Sprint. This year’s theme for the nighttime parade is “Characters of Christmas.” The tree lighting will have live performances by local groups, photos with Santa, food trucks, kids’ activities and more. The grand finale will be the lighting of a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree with more than 100,000 lights, followed by a festive fireworks show.
Lewisville’s Old Town Holiday Stroll
Lewisville’s Old Town Holiday Stroll is a two-day event taking place on Fri., Dec. 6 and Sat., Dec. 7. Highlights of this family-friendly event include a Children’s Entrepreneur Market, Winter Carnival, food trucks, and live music by school groups and other local performers. You can also enjoy hayrides through the Old Town Historic Home District, and a Movie in the Plaza.
